Activities

1. Visit To Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Darus Salam

Symphonian and the kids there have a really strong bond and we love and care for each other. They laughed at the funny moments, and wept a lot when we had to go back to the college, since that they really appreciate our presence there and they confessed that our presence really made an impact towards their life and they promise to set goals for them to achieve and improve themselves along the way. It was a really momentous, and sentimental goodbye for all of us, particularly the children who grew so fond of us and been treating us like their own brothers and sisters. All I can conclude is that the visit was a really successful one as we left a lot more than just inspiration, but physically we left them with educational tools and so much more as aid for them to become better people.

Fish For Life

Why FISHFORLIFE?

Holding strong to the theme for our project which is ‘Knowledge’, we refer to a Chinese proverb regarding to the importance of knowledge;

‘If you feed fish to a man, he will only be able to live for a day,

but if you teach him how to fish, he will be able to survive forever’

Hence, the name: FISHFORLIFE. We believe that it is our duty, as responsible youth leaders to reach out and educate other youth that are less privileged towards being better people in terms of moral values and basic living skills. We hope to inculcate a sense of loving towards knowledge and incorporate a healthy living among the youth of our neighboring country, Indonesia.

The Team

FISHFORLIFE4 is an independent organization formed with the support and supervision of Kolej MARA Banting, Selangor, a government educational institution for the International Baccalaureate programme (of pre-university studies).

Smiling Soul Activities.

  1. A talk with Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al- Masrie. The first Malaysian astronaut.

Venue : KMB Hall

Date : 22nd September 2010

On the last …… September 2010, Smiling Soul Project has held our very first mini project which was to invite the first Malaysia astronaut to the college. The talk was completely organized by Smiling Soul Project under the assistance of our advisors. This fruitful event aimed to attract the students of Mara College Banting into the aerospace industries especially the engineers-to-be as well as to give some motivation towards all the students including the doctor-to-be. This is because he is one of the successful people that we think should be looked up to since he is an orthopedic and Malaysian astronaut

2. Bazar Ramadan during the fasting month.

Smiling Soul is a new class based project which aimed to help others and see a wider scope of life by lending our hands as much as we could. Thus, to achieve our aim, we need to raise funds. One of our ways is by selling food and drinks during the fasting month at the KMB bazaar. The fund raising activity was held for two weeks and the members of SOS alternate themselves in selling the food and drinks. A lot of experience were gained from this activity. One of it was, learning to cooperate with others whom we just knew after SOS was formed.

3.The Oborigin Village,Pulau Indah in collaboration with UIAM.

This was the latest project by Smiling Soul Project. We collaborated with UIAM to carry out this project because we wanted to gain knowledge in handling such big project as we were still a new organization. In Pulau Indah, we learnt to communicate with the aborigines who were mainly fishermen. Many activities were done such as Modules to teach the children to read, write and love education. Besides that, we also did aerobics with the villagers and distribute clothes and food to them. This 5 days programme has really changed our perspective in life and we are hoping to carry out more projects like that.

Sehati Serumpun

Sehati - One Heart. It shows how we as Malaysians are doing our part to help the Cambodians in matters that they are concern about. Empathy plays the biggest role and we truly need to bind our heart together and ultimately share the same concern about the matters which are important in life such as fulfilling the basic needs, and finding ways to improve everyday life. The best way for this to be achieved is by having one mission, one heart.

Serumpun - One World. We are helping those in need, without having any concern about nationality or ethnicity as humans living on the same face of the Earth. It is our responsibility as a neighbouring country to help in any way we can and share with the Cambodians the magnificent of Malaysia.

"Sehati Serumpun" symbolizes our effort to stick together and strive for the greater good of mankind, overlooking the race factor where both countries will definitely benefit each other's existence. One heart and one world is the main aim where we hope our heart will unite and the flame of togetherness will ignite.

Sehati Serumpun 2.0 is a humanity project participated by 24 students of Kolej MARA Banting, Selangor, Malaysia. In addition, this project will be involving three phases in three different countries which are Malaysia, Thailand and Cambodia.

Phase 1 will be conducted in Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) Lanchang, Pahang Malaysia from January 18th 2010 until January 21st 2010 .Our target group is the selected children of the FELDA settlers ranging from the age of 8 to 10. Generally, we will introduce to them on how to study interactively by using E-learning study program. We will monitor, consult and supervise them on how to use and apply the module in their learning will be provided with Internet connection as the E-learning programme requires the access of Internet. It is hoped that the program will inculcate a better understanding of the importance of education, and its affection.

Phase 2 will be conducted in Patana IB School, Bangkok, Thailand. The target group is the orphans in one of the orphanage home located in Bangkok . This social service visit will be also joined by a group of students from Patana IB School. By this, it is hoped that a closer relationship with the prestigious Patana IB School can be established. Besides, it is also an alternative to prepare the students to be able to work with people of different cultures, and believes in order to produce a well-rounded student.

Last but not least, the Phase 3 will be held in Subhana Baitong, Kohkong, Cambodia. The five main objectives are to build a mosque, to introduce a new invention of pump that can simultaneously filter the water impurities, to incorporate basic hygienic practices, to promote health awareness and to teach them on the basic of the English language. Though mosque expenses might be very expensive, we still think that it is essential since mosque functions as a gathering place instead of a holy place for them to pray.

Activity Planning :

For the JPAM club , there are many activities that has been conducted to provide useful information to the pupils and adaptable knowledge + living skills. First of all , the registration of the members of the club . There are 2 uniform units in KMB which is PBSM and JPAM. JPAM applicants reached about 120 + candidates so it was a good start. The students were then introduced to the the club . They were all briefed with a little background of JPAM , how it all started , its organization chart , JPAM songs , vision , mission mottos and etc. After they all got and able to recognize each other between the JPAM staffs and the students , it was marching time!.

The students at first were completely greenhorns about the mechanism of marching. They taught us how to march in a stationary position at first. How to be able to understand the instructions given by the leader. To be able to turn 90 , 180 , 270 and 360 degree at a fixed position . Not only that , after being able to master the basics , they were finally marching and learned more new advanced techniques such as how to give raise / respect ( tabik hormat ) and such other techniques.

The next visit then was about the correct ways on how to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation ( CPR ) . It is about an immediant first aid treatment on how to retain and regain a persons breathing mechanism whereby the person is unconscious , drowned and etc. This skill is very useful for application as it can teach us how to give immediant medical attention to the people and it might be able to save one’s life from the brink of death.

Other activities include on how to use strings and different types of tieing and knots. This is very important as every type of how to tie is different and is used for different situation . For example , tie of figure – 8 , ‘ ikat manuk ‘ , dead tie knot and many others . During that session , the pupils were also exposed to how to save lifes for situations of when 1 person was available , 2 people , how to carry the more heavier , and how to usea streachter.

For the incoming activities , there will also be a camping of 3 days and 2 nights. It will be a test of endurance , courage and the guts of the students. Hopefully , more interesting activities lies ahead for JPAM.
