External CAS Venue: PDK Bukit Changgang

1. Introduction

It took us about five to ten minutes to reach from MARA College Banting to PDK Bukit Changgang. The building was exquisite, although it seems small, but the PDK is more likely seems like a home. It has a well-trimmed patch with flowers blooming ubiquitously. Inside, the PDK has 4 rooms, one for the office of the headmaster; two rooms for leisure and exercise purposes. The last room is designed to be the kitchen that prepared scrumptious foods for the students. There are a variety of special students there.

3. Activities

I. Read Verses of the Quran with the Kids

As it was part of the programme at the PDK, all of the students, of KMB and PDK Bukit Changgang, sat in a circle and read the Quran (for those who’re able to of course).

II. Taught the Kids

The KMB students had all accompanied the students during their learning activities and had aided them in things like colouring.

III. Origami

KMB students had tried teaching the special ones origami, after some time it seemed like they got the hang of it.

IV. Exercising with the Kids

In order to keep the special ones happy and healthy, exercises were done. Thus, the group of KMB students were very glad to help the staffs out in this.

V. Mural Painting

The KMB students had taken up the offer on painting the PDK’S a mural on their wall for the students’ future enjoyment.

4. Self-Reflection

“I met a student who was sightless and he can only perceive sound. The greatest thing about him is that, he likes to shout and sing. If we sing a song poorly, he will shout and scold us for not performing well. Another kid was a special one of her kind. The doctor approved that she experience a disease called Schizophrenia, an illness that a person who live in her own world, and she couldn’t distinguish between her fantasy world and the real world. It was a great thing to make some origami, to act in front of the kids to take a good care of the animals, it’s like showing the CARING side of us.”

- Bazirah Binti Mohd. Zaki

IV. Making Raya Cards

Either by helping the instructors or by teaching the OKUs, our KMB students have diligently volunteered to help them make Raya Cards.

V. Cleaned the PDK

Some of the students were given tasks such as cleaning the gardens and the PDK (indoors) itself. While they were cleaning, they learnt various things about the PDK and its surroundings.

4. Self-Reflection

“Punctuality is really important in dealing with work. I learnt that every single second is important and we have to make use of it. Other than that, I learnt that the trainees also know how to coordinate and synchronize their movements with the special ones during their aerobic exercises. The special ones know how to listen and obey instructions. In conclusion, we as the blessed ones must obey instructions as the OKUs do.”
